The History and Community of Bucks County

Bucks County was named after Buckinghamshire County in England, which held a special charm for William Penn.  It was one of the three original counties of Pennsylvania founded in 1682 by Penn, and it's strategic location made the region important during the Revolutionary War and early United States history.

Today, the county continues to thrive.  It's citizens are diverse and well educated.  The area has seen steady growth but there is also a strong emphasis on open space and the environment.  Bucks County is an ideal place to live and work.

The housing market consists of a variety of styles and price ranges.  From historic homes to farms, from stunning Colonials to town homes, from starter homes to active adult communities, Bucks County offers a broad range of housing options at every price range for residents of all ages.

The area's central location and easy access to major roads and highways is perfect for commuters.  Lower Bucks is strategically located within a short drive of both Philadelphia and New York City transportation hubs.  It is also an easy commute to two state government centers - Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and Trenton, New Jersey - and the Lehigh Valley and Princeton Corridor are nearby.

Education plays a prominent role in Bucks County.  The school districts in the county place a strong emphasis on high academic standards and post secondary education. Bucks County Community College and over 100 universities, colleges, and other institutions of higher learning are within commuting distance.

Arts and Culture plays a vital role in the community.  Bucks County offers a diverse array of ethnic, cultural, and seasonal festivals throughout the year.  The county's close proximity to New York and Philadelphia only enhances the choices residents have to enjoy cultural events and activities.  There are also many historical sites that provide an education into our nation's past.
